PGM's Weekend

The Rt. W. PGM Keith Beardmore and June were pleased to join the other eight Northern Provincial Grand Masters and their wives for an informal away week end, this year organised by Cumberland and Westmoreland PGM Rt. W. Bro Keith Hodgson and his wife Susan.
Arriving at Hunday Manor Country House Hotel on Friday afternoon in time for afternoon tea, the hotel is situated in the North West Lake District near to Keswick.
A splendid Friday evening dinner around a large table to accommodate the eighteen guests allowed for good conversation, getting to know each other as this was the first time some had met due to several PGM's having been Installed in the last year.
After Saturday breakfast the party left by coach to visit the new Lakes Distillery where the process of making Lakes Whisky from the waters of the River Derwent was explained. It was also pointed out that as whisky cannot be bottles until it is at least three years and one week old, for financial reasons both Gin and Vodka were also distilled and bottled under the LAKES label. There then followed a sampling of the products before the party moved on to the Dalmaine Mansion, a listed building originally dating back to Tudor times but with mainly Georgian extensions and in that style. Lunch of Soup and Sandwiches was followed by a boat trip of the length of Ullswater by steamer which on a beautiful sunny afternoon was most relaxing.
Back to the Hotel for afternoon tea followed in the evening by another splendid Dinner and much conversation.
The party dispersed back to their various destinations after a hearty breakfast on Sunday Morning.
